Mobile case study

A multilingual marketplace connecting farmers and fertilizer plants

OrganiX is a mobile marketplace designed around a local agricultural supply chain in Navsari, Gujarat. Farmers can buy organic fertilizer from plants and sell eligible raw material back through the same application.

OrganiX main project interface

01 / The problem

What the team needed to fix

The local market involved two connected transactions: farmers needed access to organic fertilizer, while plants needed suitable raw material. Information and ordering were difficult to coordinate through informal channels.

The mobile experience also needed to be understandable for users with different language preferences and levels of technical comfort.

02 / The build

How I approached the system

Our team built a Flutter application with Firebase and Node.js services. The app supports product discovery, two-way marketplace flows, OTP verification, multilingual interfaces and order history.

The project was developed as an academic team project and won a state-level SSIP hackathon in 2023.

03 / Capabilities

What the product does

01

Two-way marketplace

Farmers can purchase fertilizer and offer supported raw material through one app.

02

The experience supports users who prefer different local languages.

03

OTP verification

Phone-based verification provides a familiar account entry flow.

04

Product and order flows

Users can browse available items and complete structured transactions.

05

Order history

Past purchases and sales remain available inside the account.

06

Cross-platform mobile app

Flutter supports a consistent mobile experience from one codebase.

06 / What changed

The practical result

  • The project demonstrates a complete mobile marketplace journey rather than a standalone academic screen prototype.
  • Language and OTP features were designed around the intended local user base.
  • The solution received state-level recognition through the SSIP hackathon.

It reduces friction for farmers who are more comfortable reading instructions and completing transactions in a local language.

Yes. Role-aware navigation can give each account the actions it needs while keeping the shared marketplace and order data consistent.

The project uses a Node.js backend with Firebase services for authentication and application data.
